PROJECT: COMMUNITY MUSIC CENTER OF HOUSTON – NEW BUILDING
CLIENT: COMMUNITY MUSIC CENTER OF HOUSTON
LOCATION: HOUSTON, TEXAS
ARCHITECT: URBANO ARCHITECTS
Paradigm Construction is partnering with the Community Music Center of Houston to transform the historic building at 3020 Holman Street in Houston’s Third Ward into the organization’s first permanent home. Originally designed in 1965 by John S. Chase—the first African American architect licensed in Texas—the project preserves the building’s historic character while restoring key architectural elements and adapting the facility for its new purpose.
The renovation and new addition will provide rehearsal spaces, practice rooms, recording areas, offices, and a large orchestra chamber for performances and community events. Once complete, the facility will serve as the home of the Scott Joplin Chamber Orchestra and support the organization’s mission of advancing music education, artistic expression, and cultural engagement within the Houston community.
